Taj Opens First Continental European Hotel in Frankfurt's Restored Hessischer Hof
Grandhotel Hessischer Hof has reopened as Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt with 117 rooms, nine suites and interiors by Hamburg studio JOI-Design, alongside Bombay Brasserie and the debut of members-only club The Chambers.

Taj has opened its first hotel in continental Europe with the reopening of Frankfurt's Grandhotel Hessischer Hof as Taj Hessischer Hof Frankfurt, following a three-year interiors programme by Hamburg studio JOI-Design.
The property, on the former grounds of the Hessian Landgraves, closed in 2020. Its eight-storey primary structure dates from the 1950s, linked by a single-storey central section to a four-storey extension added in the 1970s, producing a mixed inventory of 117 guestrooms and nine suites, including a 140sqm Presidential Suite.
JOI-Design restored parquet flooring, wall panelling and marble where possible, adding jewel tones, textured fabrics with Indian patterns, bespoke furniture and ornamental room dividers. The lobby and lobby lounge feature a seated check-in desk, emerald tones, a chequered green and white marble floor and space for a staged tea ceremony. Bombay Brasserie runs as a sequence of dining rooms, from peacock green with ceramic LED pendants to citrine yellow with tiered chandeliers.
Taj's members-only club The Chambers also makes its continental European debut, across three interconnected spaces plus a meeting room, with a private concierge service. J Wellness Circle occupies the basement with treatment suites, relaxation rooms, a 24-hour gym, two saunas and two steam rooms. Three event spaces and two private dining rooms accommodate up to 70 guests.
Brand Finance's Hotels 50 2026 report named Taj Hotels the world's strongest luxury hotel brand, with an AAA+ rating and a score of 93.5 out of 100.
