Extendam has acquired three Spanish hotels totalling 543 rooms from Eurazeo, taking its Spanish portfolio to 35 properties. The assets — Crowne Plaza Madrid Centre Retiro, Voco Madrid Retiro and Hotel Indigo Barcelona Plaza España — all reopened under IHG flags in April 2024. The sale closes an investment cycle Eurazeo began in 2022 with the purchase of FST Hotels, five Ayre-branded hotels of around 800 rooms; two, Hotel Indigo Bordeaux and Hotel Indigo Florence, were sold individually. Extendam cites limited new supply in Madrid and Barcelona, where the mayor is restricting hotel construction in the central area.

Separately, IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed three Holiday Inn Express projects with investment manager Tikehau Capital, adding 653 rooms and forming the brand's largest single partnership in Spain. They are the first hotels announced under Selecto, Tikehau's select-service platform with operating partner Quest Capital. The 244-room Holiday Inn Express Madrid – Julián Camarillo, in the MadBit district, is due in the first quarter of 2028 and will be the brand's largest on the Iberian Peninsula; a 259-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites beside Málaga's FYCMA follows in early 2029, alongside the 150-room Barcelona – Fira.

Wilde, meanwhile, has opened Wilde Porto, its second Portuguese property, with 78 studios and apartments and interiors by Stephanie Barba Mendoza.
