Anantara Siam Bangkok has reopened after a $50 million renovation that touched all 335 guestrooms, suites and villas, along with its restaurants, event floors and wellness facilities. The hotel opened in 1983 to a design by hotel architect George Wimberley and has worked through four decades of Bangkok's growth as a destination.

Rooms now run from Deluxe through Siam Suites and Anantara Suites to a Presidential Suite, finished in teak, handcrafted detail and silk accents on a residential palette, with marble bathrooms, custom vanities and new fittings. Two categories are new: the Anantara Garden Pool Suites and Villas, set in tropical gardens with private pools and indoor and outdoor living areas, and the Jim Thompson Explorer Suite, created with the Thai silk house and modelled on a Thai summer home, with two bedrooms, polished teak floors, painted panelled walls and a private library.

The Grand Ballroom and meeting rooms have been redesigned for conferences, weddings and galas. Anantara Spa has been fully redone around traditional Thai healing treatments, and the Siam Sports Club adds a Technogym-equipped fitness centre, a Pilates studio, a Muay Thai ring and a rock-climbing wall. Nine restaurants and bars include Spice Market and Biscotti.
