Aman Opens Amanvari, Its First Mexican Resort, on Baja's East Cape

After decades without a presence in Mexico, Aman has finally arrived. Rather than joining the established luxury corridor around Cabo San Lucas, the brand has chosen Baja's quieter East Cape—a decision that reinforces the region's emergence as one of North America's fastest-growing ultra-luxury destinations. Amanvari sits within Costa Palmas, the 1,500-acre master-planned resort community that has rapidly become one of the continent's most ambitious luxury developments. Alongside Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, a private marina, golf course and branded residences, the destination is reshaping the East Cape into an alternative to Cabo's traditional luxury corridor. Designed by Elastic Architects, with initial contributions from Heah & Co, Amanvari follows the brand's signature philosophy of understated architecture that responds to its surroundings rather than dominates them. Hand-finished white concrete, timber and natural stone frame views of the Sea of Cortez, while the resort's low-slung pavilions connect the desert, estuary and coastline in a sequence of open-air spaces. The resort comprises just 18 standalone Casitas, each offering expansive indoor-outdoor living with private terraces, a 10-metre heated pool, an outdoor shower and a fireplace. A limited collection of Aman-branded residences extends the development for owners seeking a permanent presence within Costa Palmas. Dining is centred around four venues: Luma, showcasing open-fire Mexican coastal cuisine; Arva, Aman's signature Italian restaurant; Sesui, serving Japanese cuisine with a 10-seat omakase counter; and the Lounge Bar and The Pool for relaxed all-day dining and cocktails. The Aman Spa introduces the brand's first contemporary Temazcal, reinterpreting one of Mexico's oldest wellness traditions alongside a banya, hammam and six treatment rooms, further anchoring the resort in its destination rather than importing a generic wellness concept. Aman's arrival represents more than the opening of another luxury resort. It signals the growing importance of Baja's East Cape as a destination for travelers seeking privacy, architecture and nature over the scale and energy traditionally associated with Los Cabos, reinforcing the region's position as Mexico's next major luxury hospitality destination.
